A MUSIC lover who was staggered to find council officials had thrown away his £12,000 record collection is still waiting for answers.

PC World employee Anthony Dixon was devastated last month when he found his private lock-up store room at his block of flats in Warndon had been emptied by mistake.

He said Worcester City Council workers had got rid of his collection, which contained 1,000 vinyl albums and singles, when they renovated a neighbouring flat.

They told the 31-year-old they thought the storeroom belonged to the previous owners of the flat they were renovating.

Mr Dixon, of Edgeworth Close, said he had collected music since the age of seven.

Alan Workman, the council's building services manager, admitted workers had emptied the room and said there was no way of finding the boxes they had thrown away.

Six weeks later, the record collection has not been found.

"It's in the hands of my solicitors," said Mr Dixon. "I'm sure I'm not going to see my record collection again. It's a disgrace."
