BRAVE people are being urged to take part in a hair-raising "fund-razor" by shaving their heads in aid of meningitis.

The Meningitis Trust is appealing for people to come forward and make a bald statement for its first national Big Head Shave event.

The Trust hopes that from Sunday, September 21, to Sunday, September 28, Worcester people will put a price on their locks and get friends, family and colleagues to pay for them to either lose their hair or have it drastically restyled.

The event is being headed by celebrity baldies, comic Jim Tavar, a member of the BAFTA award-winning ITV Sketch Show, team, and Buster Bloodvessel, frontman of 80s ska chart toppers Bad Manners.

Coma

Buster himself was in a coma for two weeks last year after he contracted meningitis.

"We want you to lose your hair and show you care about meningitis," said event manager Rosie Marsland.

"Do something crazy to it, dye it, braid it or challenge your head of department to do the same.

"With your help we can continue the fight against this potentially fatal brain disease by funding education, support and research projects."
