A SPEED limit on a road where a pensioner was fatally injured could be reduced.
At an inquest in Stourport-on-Severn yesterday, the family of 67-year-old Valerie Bown asked if it would be possible to impose a speed restriction on the B4208 near Welland, Malvern, which currently has a 60 mph limit.
And Worcestershire coroner, Victor Round, said he would liaise with police officers to explore the possibility.
Mrs Bown, of Hook Bank, Hanley Castle, suffered fatal head injuries after her Peugeot 406 car was in collision with a Land Rover at Danemoor Crossroads, near Welland, at 9.30am on Tuesday, April 1.
Ambulance
She was taken by air ambulance to Selly Oak hospital in Birmingham where she died a week later.
The driver of the Land Rover, Sheila Anne Davenport, suffered whiplash injuries.
After reading statements from police accident investigators, Mr Round recorded a verdict of accidental death and said Mrs Bown had pulled out of the crossroads into the path of the Land Rover.
The Bown family, who attended the inquest, asked the coroner if he had the authority to change the speed restriction on the road.
"This length of road comes to my attention quite often.
"I will have a word with police," said Mr Round.
