THE funeral of the Herefordshire skydiver who plunged 13,000ft to his death after his parachute was sabotaged will take place tomorrow.

Army officer cadet Stephen Hilder, 20, died during a jump at Hibaldstow Airfield, north Lincolnshire, on Friday July 4.

Police launched a murder inquiry after revealing that the cord on his main parachute and the strapping on his reserve chute had been severed deliberately.

The funeral service for Mr Hilder, who was born in Hereford, will be held at St Mary's Church in Burghill, near Hereford.

It will be followed by a private burial attended by close family and friends.

Det Supt Colin Andrews, of Humberside police, who is leading the murder investigation, and Det Ch Insp Kevin Bowe will be attending the funeral to pay their respects.

Police were today continuing to follow up calls from the public following a nationwide appeal on the BBC's Crimewatch programme last week.

A spokeswoman said police had received dozens of calls and would be looking into any new lines of inquiry.

She also made a fresh appeal for a woman who rang with some "useful information" regarding a possible motive to call back.

"Police believe she may have had some relevant information for the inquiry but she has not yet got back in contact," she said.
