Striker Carl Fairhurst could be struggling for the start of Feckenham's new league campaign.

The forward, who returned to the Millers following a spell with defunct Midland Combination rivals County Sports, injured his ankle during his side's 4-0 midweek defeat of Boldmere St Michaels prompting a two-week lay-off.

Brian Powell, Justin Ballinger, Gary Beadling and Stuart Douglas were on target for Feckenham as they made the best possible start to their season.

Manager Lee Adams said: "In the past, Boldmere have always given us a footballing lesson but this time we gave them the lesson.

"I was very pleased with the performance - everything clicked into space."

The village side continued their winning ways on Saturday when they edged out Littletons 3-2, Powell, Douglas and James Harper netting the goals.

Fairhurst's injury along with the unavailability of fellow new signings Ballinger and Beadling mean the Millers will turn to youngsters Danny Cox and Barry Swann for Saturday's double-header with Northfield Town. The reserves take on their counterparts at noon with the first team taking centre stage at 3pm.

And Adams is hopeful that defender Mark Davies will be lining up for the Mill Lane side after agreeing to return to the Midland Combination outfit from neighbours Studley.

Adams said: "Mark's work commitments mean that he is finding the travelling difficult so he has signed for us.

"Things are looking really positive for us at the moment and I expect to prove a few people wrong this season."
