CURRENT National Champions, Shakespeare Superteam recently returned from Bulgaria where they represented Redditch and England in the World Club Championships.
The team finished a creditable fifth out of the 29 countries taking part, missing the bronze medal position by just two points.
The Championships were held on the rowing course in Plovdiv, which contained a stock of small carp and perch with the odd larger carp present.
Long pole fishing was the main method with most catches consisting of around 100 fish in the three-hour contest.
The Italian team again showed their class at this style of fishing and kept their cool in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees centigrade to win the eventahead of France and Hungary.
The anglers taking part were captain Jeff Perrin, Ricky Teal, Tony Barker, Steve Williams, Nigel Bull and Mark Warren.
Best performer was Williams who finished eighth individual with a third and sixth in section over the two days. Perrin also showed well with a fourth in section on day one.
The team would like to thank Shakespeare, Sensas, Embassy and Eurotunnel.
