Redditch United take on League of Wales side Port Talbot at the Valley Stadium on Saturday with manager Rod Brown expecting the toughest test yet for his players.

The south Wales outfit finished mid-table last season and are currently on a pre-season tour after earlier defeats at the hands of Merthyr Tydfil and Cheltenham Town.

"It is a very good, strong league," Brown side. "Teams are very physical and there are quite a number of former pros in the league."

Striker Richard Burgess will continue his recovery from a niggling groin injury with an extended run-out against Port Talbot and there could also be place in the starting line-up for another injury victim, Nav Arshad.

But one player who won't be taking part is Marvin Blake. Brown has chosen not to add the former Moor Green and Bromsgrove Rovers striker to his side having run the rule over him in a number of pre-season games.

Others could follow Blake but the Redditch manager said he wants another look at the players before making a final decision.

Two more friendlies have been added to United's pre-season programme. Ground-sharing Feckenham provide the opposition on Tuesday, August 5 with Midland Football Alliance side Stourbridge making the trip to the Valley Stadium two days later on August 7. Reds were forced to postpone an earlier friendly against the Black Country side.
