Alvechurch skipper Paul Smith is set to miss the start of the season after suffering a knee injury in his side's latest pre-season friendly.
The Lye Meadow captain could be out for up to two months after damaging his knee ligament in the 1-1 draw with Midland Combination side Cadbury Athletic.
Keith Rostill bagged the Church goal but Smith's injury overshadowed the result.
Alveston were due to play host to Alvechurch last night (Tuesday) with the club still looking to secure a match for the weekend.
