GROWING up in the 1980s, wearing terrible clothes and feeling very awkward around the opposite sex, are the ingredients of a play being staged in Droitwich Spa.
The Norbury Youth Theatre is hoping to stage a production of the hilarious coming-of-age comedy Gregory's Girl later this year.
The Bill Forsyth play was adapted into a rib-tickling 1981 film staring Scottish actor John-Gordon Sinclair as the awkward teenager in pursuit of the heart of the beautiful Dorothy.
But the show can only go ahead if youngsters aged between 13 and 21 step up and agree to tread the boards.
The play's director, Pamela Douglas, explained: "We were so disappointed when we found out that due to the previous uncertain future of the theatre, numbers in the youth section have dropped too low to cast the show."
Open auditions will be held for this production with rehearsals starting in September.
The youth theatre's regular meet is at the Norbury Theatre, in Friar Street, every Friday.
She added: "We at the theatre are fully committed to our youth section and believe it is our most valuable asset."
