LIVING for one another has proved a successful way of life for a Spa couple celebrating the golden years of their marriage.
Harold and Teresa Ingram marked 50 years together with a special mass at Sacred Heart RC Church where Harold is head altar server.
Anniversary cards and gifts flooded their May Tree Hill home of 12 years on Friday - five decades since they tied the knot at St Vincent RC Church, Birmingham.
The pair met at a church social event in their late teens and love blossomed on the dance floor. Harold, of Stetchford, spent two years in the army and on return wed sweetheart Teresa, of Vauxhall.
The newlyweds enjoyed a honeymoon in Bournemouth and returned to live with Harold's parents. They eventually bought a house in Sheldon.
It was only when Harold retired from his vehicle finisher position at Jaguar, Coventry, that they decided a move was on the cards."We originally wanted to live in Redditch but visited Droitwich and fell in love with the quaint town and friendly people," said former print technician, Teresa.
The Ingrams have two sons and two grandchildren. Harold, aged 72, said he and his 74-year-old wife do most things together.
Asked the recipe for a happy marriage, the grandad replied: "I think living for one another is the only way to live. Happiness and contentment are vital. I have enjoyed a very happy life - getting married to Teresa was the best decision I ever made."
