REDDITCH Big Brother star Steph Coldicott yesterday told the Advertiser she was desperate to get back to her home town.

Steph, of Winyates Green, escaped eviction to spend nine weeks in the Big Brother house before being the ninth person to leave during Friday's grand final.

But despite the media frenzy Steph has experienced since coming out, the 28 year old just wants to come home to see her family, including her beloved niece Tatty and dog Ronnie.

Steph said she was amazed at the attention she had received after Big Brother and although it had been a lovely experience, she was just an "ordinary, normal girl".

The former visual merchandiser for Marks & Spencer said: "When I came out of the house on Friday, it was like a dream. I still can't believe it was me. The crowds were lovely, everyone wanted to speak to me. But I can't remember much about it."

During her time in the house, Steph said she bonded particularly well with Tania, Gos and eventual winner Cameron, who she added deserved to win.

But she quashed rumours of romance with the Orkney man and laughed at suggestions in the national press they were going to get married.

"Cameron is just like me, very normal, which is why we get on so well. We have a lot in common. We are just really good friends, there's no romance. He's a lovely bloke," said Steph.

She has been doing numerous television and radio interviews since the reality TV show ended but was coming home late last night after a meal with fellow housemates.

The former Arrow Vale High School pupil said: "I'm just desperate to get back to Redditch. I realise I'll be recognised, especially as there's a big poster of me hanging from the car park.

"But I will be in my home town and I'll be far more comfortable surrounded by people I know."

Town centre nightspot Chicago Rock is planning to hold a party in Steph's honour in the next two weeks.
