A SUPER great-granny from Studley notched up her 100th birthday last Wednesday.
Maud Lewis, of Four Acres residential home in the village, received her royal telegram on the morning of her centenary.
Mrs Lewis, originally from Cheshire, celebrated with her two children, six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
When she was just 23, Maud was awarded a Master of Science degree by the University of Liverpool for her work which provided the basis to develop gold injections for arthritis.
Two years later, Maud was married to Dr Philip Stacey Lewis, whom she met at the university.
He died in 1994.
Maud has been in Studley since 1990, living with her son before moving to Four Acres earlier this year.
