KART ace Nathan Freke tested his F1 250cc Superkart for the first time at Donington Park on Monday night in preparation for his European Championship meeting in a fortnight.
Despite only managing 17 laps in total, the testing went well, and the Kidderminster karter was lapping within two seconds of last year's race winner.
He said he was a little nervous prior to the test, but is now confident that when the race engine and new tyres are fitted, he will be able to give the more experienced 250cc drivers a run for their money.
Freke will hone his skills in a different class of racing this weekend at the short circuit 100cc Kart Grand Prix at the PF International circuit near Newark.
He will compete against most of the UK's top 100cc racers in the Super Libre class, which uses 100cc direct drive engines.
