MALLARDS Club star Chris Gale was fifth in the Embassy Division Two National Angling championship on the River Soar and Loughborough Quorn Canal.
The Kidderminster carpet technician caught skimmer bream, roach and perch.
Gale also landed a bonus carp in the last five minutes to weigh in 6kg.
The event was won by Alan Wright, of Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire, with 11 bream and two perch, weighing 18.260kg.
