I READ with interest the article on Far Forest School in the Shuttle/Times and News on July 17, outlining its plans for the future.
I was most concerned with Mr Smart's statement that Far Forest School have a certain amount of excess capacity, should Bayton children need to go there.
As a parent of two children on the register at Bayton School (year two and reception), I was horrified to think that Far Forest School feel that the current Wyre Forest area review is a foregone conclusion in their favour, and that all children attending Bayton C of E Primary School will just transfer to their school, therefore instantly filling up all their surplus places.
While I am sure they feel their school can offer a good education and a secure base for our children, did they not feel they should have asked us before talking on our behalf, and making this huge assumption?
As far as we (my family) are concerned, Bayton is a brilliant and viable school, offering us much more than we could have ever anticipated when our daughter first started there - wonderful education, excellent facilities, caring and talented teachers and, most importantly, a school which my daughters just cannot wait to get to every day.
So perhaps, Mr Smart, before you speak on our, or anybody else's behalf, you should stop and consider the feelings and thoughts of these people you think you are helping. Then perhaps you will realise that the area review is not a foregone conclusion and that Bayton C of E Primary School will be here for many, many more years to come.
