WORCESTER'S Simon Archer has seen his dreams of glory dashed at the World Badminton Championships in Birmingham.
The 30-year-old former Worcester Sixth Form College student lost in the second round of both the men's and mixed doubles at the National Indoor Arena.
Archer and mixed doubles partner Kirsteen McEwan lost in straight games 15-10, 15-2 to Danish duo Jonas Rasmussen and Rikke Olsen, the latter gaining revenge for defeat by Archer in the Olympic bronze medal play-off in Sydney in 2000.
In the men's doubles Archer and Graham Hurrell also fell to Danish opponents, going down 15-12, 15-2 to Rasmussen and Lars Paaske.
