FIRE crews were called to mop up the mess outside a Kidderminster Post Office after a customer's vehicle spilled 20 litres of white spirit on the road.
Firefighters were called to Walter Nash Road in Kidderminster at 6.40pm on Monday where an unidentified workman's van is believed to have leaked the chemical. It left before they arrived.
Sub officer Russell Broadbent said most of the spillage went on to a private car park and it took firefighters half an hour to clean up the scene.
He said they sealed the drains, soaked up the liquid with absorbent pads and spread sand on the floor to prevent cars from skidding.
Manager of Birchen Coppice Post Office Bally Kooner, who called the fire brigade, said he shut his shop for 10 minutes while firefighters cleaned up the mess.
He added: "I'm hoping the council will come out to clean up the sand because it looks a bit of a mess at the moment."
