ENTERPRISING youngsters and a lot of hard work have ensured that a summer activity programme in Dines Green has made a fine start.
Youth group Streets Ahead decided to set up a fund-raising committee to help fund activities this summer such as quad biking and kayaking.
The youth group raised £400 from a fun day held at their community centre, The Green Centre, in July.
Streets Ahead also received a donation of £500 from The Green Centre Management Committee plus a grant of £400 from Worcester Action for Youth.
Youngsters taking part in the programme, which has already started, have so far enjoyed a Malvern Hills walk, swimming, and a problem-solving evening.
The group, which is used by youngsters aged 12 to 17, meets at the Streets Ahead Youth Centre, Gresham Road, Dines Green.
"We have done the summer activities before, and we do new ones each year," said Sian Gray, community development worker with Streets Ahead.
"The kids give us an idea of where they want to go and we try and arrange it for them."
Some of the trips left on the programme, which runs till Thursday, August 21, include paint-balling, a basketball match and a trip to Drayton Manor Park.
There are still some places left for the trips, but participants must arrange for a consent form to be signed.
