The growth of vegetation both in gardens and on the Hills this year seems to have been lusher than ever - perhaps a reflection of climate change? St James's churchyard is as much affected as anywhere else, so Roy Brazier and his team would welcome anyone willing to join a working afternoon tomorrow (Saturday) at any time between 2-5pm to keep on top of the successful programme which has seen such improvements this year. There are jobs to suit all ages and most tools and equipment can be provided. It is perhaps worth reminding non-churchgoers that this is also a civil graveyard for the whole community - so we all have a potential interest in it!
The monthly social coffee morning will take place as usual at the Village Hall on Thursday, August 7, from 10.15am until 12 noon. New attenders can be assured of a warm welcome.
There was a good turnout at the allotments for last Sunday's barbecue. The eating and drinking was followed by an unofficial 'perambulation' of the plots by most of those present, which produced some interesting comments and a lot of hilarity. A short singsong (which it is hoped did not frighten the neighbours!) wound up an enjoyable occasion.
