THE Senior Planner at Worcestershire County Council has now formally confirmed that the proposed floodlight installation has been withdrawn from the application by Evesham High School for refurbishment and enlargement of the tennis courts on the campus.

This decision has been greatly appreciated by local residents who feel that this is a significant contribution to harmonious community relations.

The Head Teacher and Board of Governors deserve commendation for their positive response to the concerns of local residents and their tacit recognition of the potential harm in persisting with the full scheme.

There are still some aspects of the outstanding application which cause concern but these will undoubtedly be given due consideration when the matter comes before the planning committee on September 2.
