Truck driver Desmond Howell bid a fond farewell to the coffin makers where he worked for nearly 50 years.
A barbecue was held for Mr Howell, aged 65, of Hartpury, last Friday at the premises of L, T & R Vowles in Longdon Heath to commemorate his long service.
Mr Howell began work at the company in 1953, when it was based in Gloucester, starting on the shop floor and later becoming a forklift truck driver.
Of the 35 workers employed by the company, Mr Howell has served the longest and worked right up to his 65th birthday last Friday.
His boss Darryl Farr said: "He is very genuine, honest and reliable. We wish him all the best."
