A NEW branch of the Conservative Party, serving Hanley Swan, Hanley Castle and Upton-upon-Severn, has been formed.
Jack Bennett, from Ryall, was elected chairman of the group at the inaugural meeting last Thursday.
Malvern Hills district councillor Mary Wilkinson will serve as vice chairman and a committee is also in place.
"It was agreed that the first task should be to make it known that there was now a well organised and enthusiastic body of people willing to support our local MP Sir Michael Spicer in the lead-up to the next general election, which it was felt might come earlier than scheduled," said Mr Bennett.
"Those present all felt that there was disillusionment surrounding the competence and integrity of the present government and people wanted a forum at which to express these feelings."
