Although I live in Pershore, I always follow Malvern news and I was amazed to see (Malvern Gazette, July 25) that Malvern is thinking of applying to the EU for funding to become a Centre of Culture.
How very shameful and humiliating for a town as noble as Malvern to go with a begging bowl to ask for our own money back from the EU.
This is a perfect example of why we should leave the EU completely, as recommended by the UK Independence Party.
Does Malvern not know that we send £1.25 million per hour to Brussels, £30 million per day! Then we have to beg for some of it back, just to keep ourselves going. It's stupid!
I'm sure, with £11 billion a year not going to the EU, we could soon improve our railways, schools and hospitals.
I wish you luck with your request, but please do it with some pride!
Remember, it's only your own money they are giving you back!
