WORCESTERSHIRE are heading for defeat in their Second Eleven Championship against Northamptonshire at Northampton.
They resumed yesterday on 6-2 in reply to the home side's bumper first innings total of 404-9 declared. They went on to make 234 thanks largely to Daryl Mitchell who hit 84 including nine fours.
Northants' most successful bowler was spinner Monty Panesar who took 5-67.
Following on, 170 be-hind, Worcestershire were still 148 adrift last night when they closed on 22-2.
