HEAVY rain ended Badsey Flower Show early last Saturday but not before a very successful 102nd event.
Entries were down on last year due to the hot dry spell before the show, but the children entered well and the handwriting competition produced 230 entries.
"What we did have was of good quality, a trend that has been maintained for the past three years," said show secretary Tony Fowler.
He said the entertainment went well and a good crowd watched and listed to the Bretforton Silver Band, the dancing girls provided by Rayna Grinell, Thomas Trilby, who also got up on his stilts, and the Duston German Shepherd display team from Northants with a great display of dog control and training.
The fun dog show was organised by Greenacres Animal Rescue, pony rides by Moyfield Riding Stables, and a Shetland pony and its miniature counterpart were exhibited by the Glenfall Pony Stud. Another attraction was the static display of birds of prey, ranging from owls to hawks and a peregrine falcon which could be handled by visitors. Among the stallholders was Worzel Gummidge character who told the children the story of honey and made corn dollies, a hand carved walking stick maker giving demonstrations and a stall giving air spray tattoos
"I wish to thank all our sponsors, the committee and the dedicated band of helpers, without whom it would not be possible to have a show," Mr Fowler said.
