THIS year's coaching courses at Mathon, Cradley and Storridge Tennis Club, run by club coach Andy Beesley, were supported by the Lottery Awards Board Grants for All, and catered for junior under 10s, over 10s and adult improvers.
The juniors received tuition in all aspects of the game over the eight-week course, culminating in an enjoyable tournament. Victory was claimed by Zachary Buckle in the under 10 group, and Tilly Stephens and Luke Fuller in the over 10s.
The 10 adults were also put through their paces by coach Andy, who concentrated on match-playing tactics with the emphasis on attacking net play.
The light-hearted tournament played during the final session was won by Jim Holden, with Pat Pugh as runner-up.
Advanced coaching will follow in the autumn for selected over 10s and adults.
