THE Other Place theatre in Stratford will be the venue for a special season of more than 30 theatrical events during August.
Members of the RSC's current acting ensemble and other RSC theatre specialists have created a programme of drama, live music and theatre workshops for children and adults from August 15 to August 31.
Much of the drama will be free and audiences will have the chance to see actors in a variety of roles in works by writers like Edna Welsh and James Joyce.
Theatre workshops will include youngsters creating a play in half a day, acting the fool Shakespeare-style and costume and set design with RSC associate designer Tom Piper.
Local theatre companies, including Carpe Diem Youth Theatre, Avonside Players, Stratford Operatic Society and The Gilbert and Sullivan Society will take part in A Stratford Showcase.
The schedule of performances has been designed so that people visiting the main theatres in Stratford can combine their visit with Other Place performances.
A brochure will be available from August and can be requested on 01789 403439.
Tickets must be booked for all events and will be available in advance from the RSC box office in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre (01789 403439) or at the box office in The Other Place during the season.
