PEOPLE are being offered the chance to learn the ancient craft of drystone walling during August and September through free weekend training courses organised by Worcestershire BTCV.
This will all take place on the picturesque slopes of Bredon Hill above Westmancote and the tutor for the course will be local expert Dave Shaw.
He said: "As well as being a great day out, this work is vital to help maintain the character of the area."
He explained: "The walls act as an important corridor for creatures such as toads, dormice and insects. The views are great too. On a clear day you can see as far as the Welsh borders and the Severn Estuary, over views of Gloucester Cathedral."
All aspects of drystone walling will be taught, including the history, hand tool techniques and the construction itself.
Course dates are Saturday and Sunday August 2 and 3, Saturday and Sunday August 30 and 31, and Saturday and Sunday September 27 and 28.
The course is free and participants can attend for any number of days, but booking is required as numbers are limited.
