PIANIST Stephen Watkins and mezzo-soprano Wendy Nieper will perform a song recital in Powick.
The duo met around ten years ago while studying at the Birmingham Conserva-toire. Stephen is a piano teacher from Powick, while Wendy is based in London and formerly sang with the Swingle Singers.
They will perform a range of works by Rachmaninov, Mozart, Poulenc, Copland and Sondheim at Powick Parish Hall on Wednesday (August 6) at 8pm.
"We enjoy working together and playing an interesting repertoire," said Stephen.
"I'm besotted with her voice, I think it's wonderful. It's very clear and she's amazingly musical."
Tickets are £6, available on the door or in advance on 01905 831817/01886 830021.
The concert marks the midway point of the Malvern Hills Piano Holiday, a four day course organised by Stephen and fellow teacher Philip Martin. The course runs at the parish hall from August 4 to 8, aimed at adult pianists keen to combine learning with taking a break.
"I'm hoping that people have a good time," Stephen said. "I'm hoping they will enjoy the work and we can try and address some technical and performance issues."
Mr Martin will perform at Huntingdon Hall, Worcester on Friday, August 8.
He is an accomplished performer and published composer. His concert is at 8pm and tickets are £10 on 01905 611427.
