THE stalling of Tesco's bid for 24-hour opening at St Peter's comes as great news.
I only hope the councillors make the decision to stop the 24 hours for good.
Councillor Geoff Williams' remarks that there did not seem to have been much increase in traffic or noise since the opening hours were extended just goes to show how little he knows.
He is welcome to come and visit us during the night to see and listen for himself how the noise makes it unbearable to open our windows on a hot summer's night.
Another case of "well, I don't have to put up with it so it can't be bad."
May I suggest he listens to Councillor Mike Layland when he say: "I'm not prepared to vote for something I wouldn't like".
