The Malvern and Hanley Castle Sunday School Children and friends of the Salvation Army, to the number of 150, had their annual outing on Monday, at Holt Fleet. On arrival at Worcester, headed by the Army's brass band, a march was made to the Bridge, where the saloon steamer, The Belle, which had been specially engaged, was in readiness to convey the party to its destination. On arrival at the field, lunch was provided. Malvern News, August 1, 1903.
A young man named Jones, one of trio of cyclists touring the district, met with a rather serious accident in Dymock on Thursday afternoon. The three were at the bottom of a pitch, near the Crown Inn. When endeavouring to turn the corner, Jones collided with a trap, the shaft of which broke and cut his chest severely, in addition to making a deep gash across his abdomen. The unfortunate fellow was conveyed to one of the rooms in the Crown. His condition is favourable to recovery. Ledbury Free Press, August 4, 1903.

Malvern Gazette, Friday, July 31.
IN glorious weather a record crowd of between 3,000 and 4,000 streamed into Ledbury Park on Monday where, by permission of Lord Biddulph, Ledbury Garden Produce Club held its 11th annual flower show and fete. The brilliant sunshine and increased inducements were evidently responsible for the record attendance, which was double that of last year. Ledbury Reporter, August 7, 1953.

Upton-on-Severn Chamber of Trade, Commerce and Industry has received so many complaints about the "filthy state of Upton" that it has written to Malvern Hills District Council to complain. Almost all its members have received complaints from visitors and residents about the dirt in the streets and gutters. Mr Norman Parry, secretary of the chamber, said: "The machines just can't get down the narrow alleys of Upton. What we need is a man and a broom and a barrow, like we used to have." Malvern Gazette, August 3, 1978.
