MALVERN Seconds claimed 24 points in a Worcestershire County League game that lasted just over two hours.
MALVERN II v ROMSLEY & HUNNINGTON II
This was just as well, since a full day's play would have been impossible after heavy late rain set in.
Romsley's chances looked bleak from the off. With seven of their regulars at the test match and only nine players in the team, the only decision their skipper could make after winning the toss was to bat first.
Opening bowlers Mudway and Cox soon had Romsley under pressure with many good maidens bowled. Cox in particular beat the bat on many occasions. The only resistance came from youngster Ryan (10) and Stevens (22). Wickets fell regularly and Malvern soon realised a quick end would be in sight. With no other batsmen scoring more than three, Romsley were all out for 44 off 26 overs.
Highlights of Malvern's fielding, was catching from Walker and Cullen, with an excellent spell of bowling from Cox of 6-14, which included a hat-trick taking the last three wickets.
In reply, Malvern only took eight overs to knock the runs off with Bywater and Bird both making 17.
Full marks to Romsley for fulfilling the fixture and thanks go to sponsors, Three of a Kind, Andrews Hair Studio and APS.
