IN reply to the letter from Mrs M Large regarding coursing (You Say, July 22), I believe it is totally disingenuous for Maurice Brett to quote from the Burns report into hunting.
Mr Brett is a leading member of Protect Our Wild Animals. This group was invited to give evidence to Burns but they refused, making it totally unacceptable for him to cherry-pick the report just when it suits him.
Again, I must to point out that Lord Burns, when asked if hunting was cruel, said: ''The short answer is no''.
As this statement was made in the House of Lords it would be an extremely serious matter for him to say anything other than the truth.
JON BURGESS,
Malvern.
