JOHN Brain has revealed he would have no qualms about resting players in the Powergen Shield final if his Worcester Rugby Club side progress today.
The Sixways director of rugby has put out a strong team against Exeter today for the home showdown.
However, if successful, Worcester would then face a final date with either Rotherham or Orrell just seven days before their all-important title shootout with Rotherham on April 12.
And although Brain has refused to rest players for the semi-final, he may do just that for a Twickenham final.
"Whilst we've not chosen to field a weakened team for this game in front of us, that wouldn't necessarily be the case if we got to the final," he said.
"If we felt that we were best served by resting the majority of our front line players that week then that's what we would do. Final or no final.
"The aim of this club is to get promoted. It's not to win the Powergen Shield."
Brain is determined to keep Worcester's unbeaten home record intact though.
"It is a realistic ambition to remain unbeaten at home for the rest of the season," he added.
"If Exeter win today then what is to stop Plymouth thinking they can come to Sixways and win?
"That would also reinforce Rotherham's belief that they could win here. It is important psychologically for us to stay strong at home.
"We always felt we had a responsibility to take the Exeter game seriously because it was a home match in front of our own supporters."
