GREEN-minded pupils at an eco-friendly primary school have carried out a traffic survey to highlight the dangers of illegal parking outside its premises.
As a result, parents of children at Worcester's Oldbury Park Primary School, in Oldbury Park Road, have been sent a leaflet highlighting the issues arising from the study, carried out earlier this year.
The survey was carried out by 14 youngsters, in conjunction with Worcestershire County Council, as part of the Safer Routes to School Initiative.
"We were trying to highlight the issues with illegal and unsafe parking and, following on from that, trying to encourage children to walk to school," said David Willetts, eco-schools co-ordinator.
The school is now carrying out a feasibility study into a "walking bus" scheme, whereby pupils would be collected from their homes and taken to school by a parent.
The initiatives are part of an ongoing programme for the Eco-schools Award for environmentally-friendly schools.
