A teenager who picked the wrong "customer" when she tried to supply her with drugs at a Worcester nightclub has ended up being detained.

Suzanne Burfitt approached a woman who worked for the club's security firm and asked her if she wanted to buy ecstasy pills at £2 each.

The woman asked her to stay where she was and then informed doormen at Tramps, said James Wood, prosecuting. Burfitt was apprehended and found to be in possession of 29 ecstasy pills.

Burfitt, aged 19, of Poplar Avenue, Worcester, was sentenced to two and a half years detention. She admitted possession of drugs with intent to supply and offering to supply drugs.

At Worcester Crown Court Judge Michael Mott said ecstasy could kill but was still very prevalent in clubs.

People who tried to push dangerous drugs would not learn the lesson until it was rammed home to them, he added.

Worcester Crown Court heard that pub worker Burfitt went to the nightclub on Sunday, August 24 and offered the drugs after midnight.

She told police she had gone out with 32 ecstasy pills and aimed to make £1 profit on each. She refused to name her supplier.

Graham Cliff, defending, said Burfitt was naive and lacked insight into the seriousness of her crime.

She had a drink problem which had a bearing on her previous convictions. They included assault on police and common assault.
