A CHARITY gig to raise money for a Thai man who was born with severely deformed legs takes place at Worcester's Marr's Bar tomorrow.
Somphet Bunsorn uses a self-modified bicycle to give him limited mobility, but his English friends want to buy a hand-controlled scooter.
His plight came to the attention of Becky Pearman and her friend, Paul Taylor, when they were in Thailand, seven years ago.
"Paul met his wife Maylin on the trip, and she went to school with Somphet and lived in the same village," said Miss Pearman, aged 29.
"Somphet's a lovely bloke and he tries so hard. He has very small legs and can walk, but he can't go very far."
The average wage in rural Thailand is around £1 a day, and a good second-hand machine would cost around £350.
Mr Taylor will visit Thailand in January, and buy the scooter for Somphet there.
Snorkel and Economy Prostitutes will play at the Pierpoint Street venue for the 9pm gig. Tickets are £3 or £4 on the door.
