A VANDALISED garage, turned into a drug den by teenage junkies, has been boarded up to banish the problem.
Environmental services removed seven used syringes, glue bottles, tin foil, can bottoms and lighters used to prepare the drugs from the property on Friday, after being contacted by Councillor Mike Layland.
Unsuspecting owner, John Brown of Keble Close, Tolladine, had no idea his garage, which is around 100 yards from his house, was being used by the youths.
Dumped
Mr Brown had suffered vandalism on three previous occasions with the door either smashed or wrenched off its hinges, before the latest gang moved in.
His own vehicle was taken and a stolen car was dumped at the same site, which he admits had become "nothing but trouble".
Residents now hope the boarding, which he put in place this week, will remove the problem of drug addicts.
They had reported seeing groups of youths in the private garage, sometimes in broad daylight, within the past two weeks.
"I'm absolutely delighted the owner has boarded up his garage - it really shows how a little co-operation between everyone can get things done," said Coun Layland.
"I've been contacted by residents who are extremely pleased these measures have been taken, hopefully now the problem surrounding this block of garages has been resolved."
The secluded site is just yards from where dozens of discarded syringes were discovered in August.
It is on the same estate as the Teme Road drug den where Liverpudlian heroin dealer Michael Kelly was hacked to death by his flatmate Gerald Edwards in August last year.
