BROMSGROVE florist Barbara Winsper, owner of the Flower Box in Worcester Road, was to take on 12 other finalist in a national competition to find the Florist of the Year staged at the NEC in Birmingham.
HANBURY widow Joyce Sawyer, in her will, left her 17-acre Meadows Farm at Woodgate to Worcester Rotary Club for conversion into a home for elderly women. The farm was worth around £75,000. Mrs Sawyer died in July aged 85.
THE scarcity of building land in Bromsgrove was likely to attract bidders from a wide area when three parcels of land near the town centre at Hill Lane and Worcester Road belonging to Bromsgrove School came under the hammer. Recently a plot of just over half an acre at Denmark House in Kidderminster Road was sold for £55,500.
THE new company, which had stepped in to save Bromsgrove's ancient produce market, got off to a good start when growers responded by sending a large quantity of goods to sell. The new company was led by district councillor, estate agent and auctioneer Robert Oulsnam. His other partner was Alan Ball, another Bromsgrove estate agent.
