FAIRFIELD Villa reached the second round of the Smedley Crooke Cup with a hard fought 1-0 victory against Cadbury Athletic Reserves at the Recreation Ground.
The visitors looked the more dangerous early on last Saturday but gradually John Baker and Neil Gallagher's side came into the game and took the lead on 20 minutes. Lloyd Dawkins latched on to a through ball before rounding goalkeeper Tom Reynolds and putting the ball into the empty net.
After this play became very scrappy and Villa were forced to defend for long periods and eventually saw the game out.
