DEAR EDITOR - I am writing in support of all the disabled people.
I am an 84-year-old, crippled with arthritis, I have had a stroke and I have cataracts on both eyes that cannot be operated on. I have had a wheelchair for 15 years but still I am unable to use public transport.
Both my husband and I worked for the Midland Red Bus Company for many years. I worked in the office and my husband was a mechanic at Digbeth, Birmingham.
I wrote to them to ask if there was anyway I could use the bus and was told no. I can't leave my room now because of a stroke and on the rare occasion I would like to go to Bromsgrove, it costs me £9 for a taxi.
I wish all the people who like me are more successful in their fight for what I tried to get and couldn't with no help from anyone.
