The president, Maureen Smith, welcomed the members to the meeting.
Two visitors, Rita Bing and Catherine Bristow, were given a warm welcome. Nomination forms for members of the committee were distributed. The November birthday girls were given birthday good wishes. Items of interest were read from the county newsletter and suggestions were requested for the venue for the Christmas dinner.
Business concluded, the speaker, Mr W Auger, was introduced. Mr Auger was accompanied by his wife. Mr Auger was a bee keeper. He gave an informative talk on bee keeping and illustrated how his interest and enthusiasm began as a child during the war. He was an evacuee in Wales at the time. He told of the lifestyle of the bees within the hive and of the work undertaken to look after the hive and its inmates. Mrs Auger gave her views as a bee keeper's wife. It was not financially rewarding but of great interest. Jenny Eddens gave the vote of thanks. Raffle prizes were won by Margaret Cattell, Margaret Waldron, Sheila Bell, Jacquie Allen and the competition prize was won by Jean Miac.
