I SHOULD like to thank D E Margrett for being concerned about my well-being.
As regards the rest of Mr Margrett's letter headlined "Frustration and grief," somebody must attack these "Dick Turpin" speed camera laws, even at the cost of upsetting the goody-two-shoes drones, who see nothing wrong in people being mugged by machine, courtesy of Labour politicians, who have developed this splendid wheeze to suck vast volumes of money out of our pockets.
A keystone in the law of our nation is that all Englishman are equal, under the law. The fact that the safety camera partnership can only suck money from the pockets of the people, who obey the law, while habitual lawbreakers, whose vehicles are unregistered, go scot-free, is an injustice that should fire up the anger of all Englishmen.
Is it justice that the law-abiding silent majority can now lose their driving licences, in a single journey, without ever being aware that they have broken the law, while unregistered drivers go scot-free "forever?"
Doesn't the requirement that the law must always be tempered with justice, explain why the Scales of Justice were purposely made slightly out of kilter?
There is no justice in this law, and in a democracy we all have the right - indeed the duty - to challenge unjust laws.
If this law isn't challenged now, the law-abiding will end up with their faces, their fingerprints and their DNA profile buried in government computers, via Identity Cards.
Then, with satellite tracking technology, and a multitude of cameras, government will be able to pinpoint where every one of us is.
We don't trust politicians now - why should we trust them with technology that gives them complete control, over what we do, and where we go, 24 hours a day?
N TAYLOR, Worcester.
