THE MAYOR hit out at people who failed to support yesterday's two minutes' silence.

Cllr Jan Bolton (Con-East) attended Victoria Square on Tuesday for the two minutes remembrance.

But she was disheartened at the lack of support from motorists at such a poignant moment.

"People know we hold the service here on Remembrance Day. I was disappointed to see cars still going past," Jan said.

"It happened last year too. It was a great shame for poppy appeal organiser, Roy Hewlett as it was his last time and we could not hear his speech."
