POP, it seems, is on a slippery slope. Yet another former TV star hits the charts with an album that more than anything lacks soul.

It stinks of a last-ditch effort from shameless pop bosses to introduce someone who already has some fame to the music world just to make more money regardless of whether they have any talent.

Just look at the likes of Kylie (please forgive me!), Jason Donovan, Holly Valance, Adam Rickett, even Martine McCutcheon.

Now, 16-year-old kids' TV star Hilary Duff makes her debut and unless the Texas-born actress metamorphoses into a good singer, which is doubtful, it's just the same old story of looks outweighing talent.

The youngster made her mark on the world in TV show Lizzie McGuire before her venture into pop.

All that said, the album itself is full to the brim with average pop tunes, simple melodies, simple lyrics - all in all a simple album.

The album and singer made her mark on the industry with one of the most irritating songs around - So, Yesterday - once heard never forgotten and this theme really continues throughout the 14-track album.
