LOUTISH behaviour in Wythall and Alvechurch is being targeted after the introduction of the first antisocial behaviour co-ordinator - and residents are being called on to help.

Former West Midlands police officer Graham Hancox has joined Bromsgrove Council and will be working across the district creating a database of incidents, as well as looking at ways of how to resolve them.

Mr Hancox will be working with all departments of the council and the police to ensure serious and persistent cases of antisocial behaviour are taken to court.

He said: "I'm looking forward to making it possible for residents to enjoy the peace and quiet of their home undisturbed.

"I will use all the tools the law allows to prevent and dissuade people using unacceptable behaviour anywhere in the district.

"I will, however, need the support of residents to ensure properly evidenced cases are assembled."

Funding for the post has been secured by the Community Safety Partnership from the Home Office's Safer Communities Initiative.

John Moody, chairman of Bromsgrove Community Safety Partnership, said: "The appointment of this special officer is a clear indicator that the council is determined to tackle antisocial behaviour in the district and anyone who shows a total disregard for others will be dealt with accordingly."

Bromsgrove Council leader Dennis Norton said: "Current initiatives around antisocial behaviour are fully supported by the council.

"The introduction of alcohol-free zones and the antisocial behaviour co-ordinator are the first steps in a get-tough policy with those who indulge in this type of behaviour."

Residents can report anti-social behaviour to the housing department on 881280, environmental health on 881444 or the police on 08457 444888.
