AN ALCESTER character has been immortalised in a book by one of her former colleagues.
Rosie Bunting, otherwise known as Miss Rose, was a familiar figure to everyone who visited the family shop (now Costcutters). She died last year.
Maggie Payne has many memories of Miss Rose stretching back to her very first day as a shop assistant and has written the booklet Memories of Rosie Bunting as a tribute to someone she described as 'eccentric but loveable'.
Maggie said: "The book starts when I first went into Buntings when I was 15 or so and met this lady. She was eccentric but loveable all through her life.
"There are five chapters covering the five stages that I remember and it took me about a month to write.
"It wasn't hard to do but it was very interesting and I thought it would be a nice stocking filler for customers of Buntings who remember her."
Demand has already been high and within days of them being on sale, Maggie had to order a reprint.
They cost £3.99 and are available on 01789 762577.
