ALCESTER'S Meadow View Care Home is one of a number in south Warwickshire which have been earmarked as rehabilitation centres for stroke patients in a new development between social services and South Warwickshire Primary Care Trust.
The new development aims to get patients out of hospitals but still provide ongoing care in a community environment.
Meadow View, opened earlier this year, already offers long and short-term residential care, including care for elderly people with mental health needs.
Other homes included in the plan are Avon Court, Warwick, and the Arden and Feldon wards at the Royal Leamington Spa Rehabilitation Hospital.
Consultant Dr Harshad Desai said: "Traditionally, most elderly care has been given in hospital.
"In the future we will see more of this care provided in the community."
Dr Desai added: "This will include a range of new services provided across a variety of settings with more rehabilitation being provided at home by the intermediate care team."
