A FEAST of quite literally biblical proportions will be on the menu following a drama performance at a church in Worcester.
The spread is designed to complement the performance of the Gospel of St John, at St Martin's Church, London Road, by serving foods mentioned in the Bible.
The events organiser Shirley Scott and fellow parishioner Hazel Pond have been researching and planning a delicious buffet using loaves and fishes, water and wine, lamb, lentils, figs, pomegranates, olives, grapes and honey.
However, locusts, which were eaten by John the Baptist in the wilderness, will not be on the menu!
"When I mentioned the idea to the Rector, Ken Boyce, I promised no locusts," said Mrs Scott. "Thankfully, they're not readily available in Worcester."
Mr Scott said she got the idea after speaking to the actors from TaurusVoice, the professional theatre company, who will carry out the performance.
"They said people are so moved by the show that they like to stay around after the show and talk about it.
"I had this idea of giving the audience refreshments but rather than cheese sandwiches we could give them food from the gospel.
"The whole Bible is full of references to food."
The performance will take place on Saturday November 15. The licensed bar opens at 7pm for wine and grape juice and the performance starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets are still available for £6, with free entry for under 16s who are accompanied, from St Martin's Parish Office on 01905 358083 or from Shirley Scott on 01905 351748.
