THE Christmas lights are going up in Tenbury as the town prepares for the festive season - and they will be switched on by Councillor Tom Wells, leader of Malvern Hills District Council, on Friday.
For the first time, the council has contributed £500 towards the cost.
Considered some of the best seasonal lights in the West Midlands - thanks to support from businesses and people in the community - more are being added this year to extend them into Market Street.
A new Welcome to Tenbury "illumiere", made in and shipped from Greece, will illuminate the Teme Bridge, adding to the central overhead display along Teme Street.
The switch-on ceremony, outside The Regal, is at 4.30pm. Father Christmas will be dropping by and Tenbury Town band will entertain shoppers with a selection of seasonal music and carols from 4pm.
